Error Message:

Causes:

The SQL Server installation path having files from a lower edition so, SQL Server cannot overwrite higher edition database files. Please select the different installation folder.

Workaround 1:

When you are at the point of the failure, do not cancel the installation, Rename “MSSQL.1” folder from application path “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server” and later click on Retry continue installation.
