Uninstall everything related to SQL that might be on your computer.<\/li>\n<li>Logged on user may not be an administrator. Administrator privileges is required to install SQL Server.<\/li>\n<li>Due to improper SQL uninstallations, your registry is not clean and might be corrupted.<\/li>\n<li>Disable password policy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Workaround 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make sure that you are running the SQL Server setup as \u201cRun as Administrator\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Workaround<\/strong> 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0you are at the point of the failure, do not cancel the installation,<\/p>\n<p>Run this registry SqlNativeClientRegistryConfiguration.reg<\/p>\n<p>Download: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/v6dk1n7noavaw28\/SqlNativeClientRegistryConfiguration.reg\" target=\"_blank\">SqlNativeClientRegistryConfiguration<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Workaround<\/strong> 3:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remove SQL Server 2005 completely from Control panel<\/p>\n<p>Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs | Microsoft SQL Server 2005<\/p>\n<p>In the first dialog, make sure to select the &#8220;RELYONDB: Database Engine&#8221; radio button.<\/p>\n<p>If RELYONDB is the only instance, then select all check boxes &amp; Click Next and Finish to proceed with the uninstall.<\/p>\n<p>If there is no other SQL instance, I would go on to clean out all SQL components with the following steps.<\/p>\n<p>Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Native client<\/p>\n<p>Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Setup support files<\/p>\n<p>Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server VSS writer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Error: SQL Server Setup could not connect to the database service for server configuration.
