Nor can you restore a backup from a newer SQL Server to an older SQL Server.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workaround 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SQL Server 2008 R2 databases are 661. SQL Server 2005 databases are version 612. You are trying to attach a 2008 R2 database (v. 661) to a 2005 instance (v. 612) and this is not supported.
