This situation occurs under following conditions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>When the ldf file does not match with the mdf file.<\/li>\n<li>Database might be corrupted.<\/li>\n<li>Database \u2018msdb\u2019 cannot be opened due to insufficient permission or\u00a0inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space. See the SQL Server errorlog for details.<\/li>\n<li>User does not have permission to alter database \u2018msdb\u2019, the database does not exist, or the database is not in a state that allows access checks.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Workaround 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If MSDB data base is found corrupt, we can replace it from backup.<\/p>\n<p>For example<\/p>\n<p>MSDB mdf and ldf files will be located in DATA folder of SQL, we can find backup in template data folder.<br \/>\nNote :- Perform this workaround if you are sure about the exact location of the msdb data base\u00a0 &amp; before replacing\u00a0 it from backup rename the corrupted file.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workaround 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remove Microsoft SQL Server 2005 completely from Control panel<\/p>\n<p>Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs | Microsoft SQL Server 2005<\/p>\n<p>In the first dialog, make sure to select the &#8220;RELYONDB: Database Engine&#8221; radio button.<\/p>\n<p>If RELYONDB is the only instance, then select all check boxes &amp; Click Next and Finish to proceed with the uninstall.<\/p>\n<p>If there is no other SQL instance, I would go on to clean out all SQL components with the following steps.<\/p>\n<p>Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Native client<\/p>\n<p>Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Setup support files<\/p>\n<p>Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server VSS writer<\/p>\n<p>Re-install SQL Server 2005 RELYONDB and attach the data files from application.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Error: Database \u2018msdb\u2019 cannot be opened.
