For details on how to view setup logs, see \u201cHow to view setup log files\u201d in SQL Server books online.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Snapshot<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/techsupport.relyonsoft.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DataSource-name-not-found1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-988\" title=\"DataSource name not found\" src=\"http:\/\/techsupport.relyonsoft.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DataSource-name-not-found1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"611\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/relyonsoft.in\/techsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DataSource-name-not-found1.jpg 611w, https:\/\/relyonsoft.in\/techsupport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DataSource-name-not-found1-300x81.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 611px) 100vw, 611px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Causes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Based on this error message, it might be caused by the SQL Server Native Client was not installed properly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do not close the error window, if there is a &#8220;Retry&#8221; option, try the below work around and retry the installation<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workaround 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It Seems like SQL Setup is not able to write respected values to registry, to the path<br \/>\n<strong>For 32 bit os:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8220;HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\ODBC\\ODBCINST.INI\\SQL Native Client&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>For 64 bit os:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8220;HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\ODBC\\ODBCINST.INI\\SQL Native Client&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Check for permission for above mentioned key, if there is no permission,try assigning permission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workaround 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To fix this issue, please follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uninstall SQL Server Native Client component from the Programs and Features<\/li>\n<li>Rename the files sqlncli.dll and sqlnclir.rll if they present in path C:\\Windows\\System32<\/li>\n<li>Install Microsoft SQL Server Native client<\/li>\n<li>Run the SQL Server 2005 setup under an administrator account again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><strong>Workaround<\/strong> 3:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It sounds like the SNAC version you have might be corrupt or incompatible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to Add or Remove Programs and find the listing for &#8220;Microsoft SQL Native Client&#8221;. Remove this component.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Then try to install again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>If issue is not solved Contact Development team.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Error 29515: SQL Server setup could not connect to the database service for configuration.
